Problems programming 165 arap

I'm having problems programming a chip for my 88 formula.
I'm currently running stock 305 programming on my transplanted 355.
No matter what I do I can't seem to get the fan to stop running at startup (not key on, engine running)

Here's what I have:
PP2
WinBin and GMECM edit (neither of which seem to change the values)
165 ecm
at29c256
ARAP bin ($6E I assume)
6ev009 ecu file (should I use 10?)

I've only run the car 30 seconds at a time and haven't tripped the SES light but the fan keeps running with the engine running.

My .bin size is showing up as 32K.

My ALDL cable should be in today. I'm not driving this thing until I can see what's going on.

What am I doing wrong?

88 Formula 355 A/T MAF, yes I do have the 350 KS and 24lb injectors.

TIA

There's a number of previous posts about some entries that have to be changed to run the 6E, one of them is for the fans as I recall, a quick search should get you the list of what to change.

Yeah N/O kept popping up but I didn't see that anywhere in the editors.

think i just found it under AC pressure switch specification byte.

Disabled or enabled the friggin fan keeps running. Am I missing something? Also when using winbin and gmecm edit it almost looks like there's no information, no numbers plugged in. This only happens about half the time. Makes me wonder if I got a bad bin from the diy ftp site.

In regards to stacking the bin; the first half through 04000 should be empty as in 00 or FF?
Every time I stack it fills the first half with 00's.

you could try getting a known good bin. try the orginal one from your 305 PROM? use as a tester. make sure "everything is there" numbers etc..

Are you saying just use the memcal? If so, I know that works. It appears as if this ARAP bin works fine it's just the fan won't shut off. I just burned 14 more chips and it's always the same problem. This has turned into an all day project.

Does somebody have a known good ARAP $6E? I'm beginning to wonder if it really is bad.

update

Upon 6 more hours of searching I found that 2 years ago it was posted that the fan can stay on for 30 seconds before shutting off. Mine's staying on longer than that but it is shutting off once the car warms up a bit.
Now onto building the cable.
Thanks

under constants look for.....

Minimum Fan 1 Time On

check the value it's set at. and change it to meet your preference.

Fill the buffer with FF and then program the chip starting at 00000. This will erase everything. Without stacking the bin, load the bin and begin programming at 04000.

Your fan could be on all the time because the bin wasn't loaded right and your running off the limp home mode chip.

It must be loaded right because the SES light isn't on (it works) and the fan shuts off after 1-2 minutes. So I know it's not running on the limp circuits. As a test with the chip removed from the zif the fan and ses came on. This proves to me that it's running off the ARAP.

Stacking always seems to screw up my bin.

It sounds like you're running off the chip. Try programming without stacking the bins. One problem I had was a bad flash chip. My MPG function would give strange readings. I burned the same bin on a different chip, and now it works.

I tried that too. Everything's working correctly but the fan. At least it doesn't stay on the whole time.
