Knock counts going crazy

I hooked up my scanner last night, and I noticed that at Idle my knock counts were racking up steadily and that It was taking out ~2-5 degrees pretty constantly. I am also getting an Intermittant code 42 and 43, I can tell when the light is about to come on becuase It will be sluggish and a few seconds later it will set the light off. Do you think it could be a faulty knock sensor?
Thanks, Chris

I get them at start up. it senses the starter engaging/ cranking. I assume this is not your case?

I have been getting them at 2200 and 40 map, speed density system. this am that was the only area. i assume i remove 4 degrees or so in main spark table and try again? I am running 10 deg initial advance. 206/216 @ .05 cam(non roller) and 64 cc edel rpm alum heads 350 cid. somewhere i was told 10 deg initial advance was Ok and max? I ran 6 deg initially and changed it a month after motor done. Now I question if that is too much advance? since i am getting KC only in that area 2200-2400 rpms at 40-50 map( has happened every other data log) maybe i am ok every where else cept there so removing in that area only OK ???

Yea would try removing some there. also you could be going alittle lean, so yo could try adding alittle bit of fuel there

good point. i will check blm at that point too. funny lean some other spots. varying degrees of lean but no knock counts. i think at that area there is a lot of load on engine and that may induce KC.

I get KCs at startup, but I get a lot more at shut down, oddly. I've seen WinALDL add like 254 counts in high load (95kpa) low rpm areas (400 or 600). I dunno if it's WinALDL or what...I just find it strange.

i read somewhere that that is normal? something about 400 rpm and 90 map is not a KC but something like a check meaning all OK. maybe system is functioning on KC/retard program. ignore that field??? happens to me too. there is a posting somewhere.
