do I need a different chip?(some mods/MAF)
I have a 87' TPI MAF ECM and wiring with the stock chip for a 305 automatic(from a T/A) on my Monte with the same TPI setup on its 305. TPI setup is stock for the most part, but the mods are as follows: 3.42 gears(donor car was a 2.73 geared one), K&N filter, Hooker headers, and maybe most importantly for the PROM, a cam from a 88-89 5 speed 305 TPI which should be similar to the L98 cam. Also Ford application Bosch SVO injectors at 19#, which apparenlty on the GM scale is more like 20.5 or so from what I hear.
Now what Im curious about is, would I benefit from a different chip? If so how should I go about it? Im not an expert with chips or anything, but have some basic knowledge. TIA!

Do you NEED a new eprom? No. Your mods are quite mild and while there is a slight flow difference due to the injectors, they are not enough to drastically alter performance.
Could you BENEFIT from a new eprom? Probably. Most guys who have tuned their eproms and then quantified the differences have found an improvement - even on a bone stock car. Some guys will say they've found some improvement with an "off-the-shelf"eprom, while many others have not.
But all that have tried both "off-the-shelf" vs. "burning their own" have found burning their own yields more gains.
Scope out Tim Sifords (Traxion's) Prom burning article to learn more about how to burn an eprom.

also, if you experience any drivability issues after the mods you maybe able to tune them out with a "corrected chip"...you may want to data log after mods and see how things look.
