ccp and blms
ccp and blms
My car is not using the blm cells correctly, like it did with the old cam. It's staying in cell 4 way too much. I am going to remap the cell boundaries. BUT I think my main problem is the ccp. It's forcing a cell 4 if ccp dc is under 16.4%(my setting). So even if I'm driving, cell 4 is "sticking" for awile. The cells are working fine once the ccp dc is past 16.4%. So I have set the forced idle cell ccp % duty cycle to 1% because the ccp duty cycle shouldn't force anything. I think the cells will work a little better too. Here is a pic of the log data. You can see(maybe
) that my cells are not working correctly. Tomorrow morning I'll know if the cells are working better. If so then I'll remap them...
What ties the ccp to blm cells(other than the mentioned constant)?

For some reason with the new setup I would drop out of x cell into idle cell. The test is done though. I changed the forced idle cell ccp % duty cycle constant to 1% and the car uses the cells alot better. I have the before and after logs and bins if anyone wants to check it out....
I was just looking at the data and I am shocked. My car uses the blm cells in a different way now. My idle is in cell 9 and acording to my cell grid, that is the cell I technically idle in. I logged about 15miles of driving. Don't think the engine ran in cell 4 after the constant was changed. The blm cells now follow the cell boundaries....

I hate to say "I told ya so" but I posted about this a long time ago ... and then posted about it again and then again. I'm the one who asked TC to add the constant to the TDF and have been preaching about it ever since. It's nice to see that it worked for you too. Set the constant to 0% and just completely disable your CCP (if you aren't using it). Then make sure to adjust the hardcode to keep highway mode still working.

What's the deal with these cells? How do they correspond to the VE tables and BLMs?
Basically I am asking what are they, what do they do, and how do I tune with them?
If this info has been covered, which I am sure it has, just point me towards the answers and I will be just fine. Thanks, sorry to bogart your post!!

I just read that whole post, the one I guess you were referring to since you were a major player in it. Holy chit, my brain hurts!!!
Great info there!!
Thanks again
Trax,
I know you have posted tons of great info on the CCP vs cell 4 vs highway mode. Ive read it all and based on all the posts, I changed the "FORCE IDLE CELL LRN IF CCP DC LT" to 0. ($8522). I also changed the Min temp for Air Divert to 255 ($839A). With this done, I no longer idle in cell 4 but whatever cell is appropriate for the pressure and rpm, and I also get highway mode. That was all there was to it. Why is everyone having to tweak the code?

I was trying to figure out why I had to set the thresholds to 0. There is two possible reasons the blms was not working correctly. 1. The ccp is directly related to map. So with my big cam, the vacuum is different than stock. 2. OR it's because my transmission is not connected to the ecm. Just the electronic vss is ran to the ecm. TCI has it lockup in fourth. So the "gear inputs" to the ecm is not getting used thus confusing blms. Any other ideas?

I am not sure it if is relevant, but with my TH 350, I have the flag set to manual transmission mode. I figure since the ECM might be looking for things with the auto flag set and I don't have any of the inputs, it will run better with the manual trans option in the chip...Just my $.02
great idea. I'll put the ccp threshhold back to stock and switch the flag to manual. If that is the reason, I'll know.Come to think of it, that might be perfect for my setup. My trans has no inputs/outputs to the ecm.
My buddy has a vette l98 w/hotcam and stock 700r4. I just messed with his ecm today. The map readings is not the same as stock but the blm cells/ccp dc worked fine. So I do think it's related to the transmission.

Ok, I did it. I set the ccp dc back to stock and switched my bin to a manual. The blms work like normal! Well....cell 4 goes up to 15 mph now. I guess that is normal too? Cause I don't like cell 4 "sticking" untill 15 mph. I know about the max speed for idle constant, stock is 15mph. I'm thinking about setting it to 1mph. It would be nice to know what the code is doing. I know for a fact that my racing trans had something to do with this....
