What gas is everybody running?

This might not be prom techincal but indirectly I'd just like to see what kind of gas you guys are getting away with in your tune or reasons why you don't put anything less than premium etc.
I've been very lucky with running 87 octane all the time with no obvious ill effects. The vortec heads and low compression (9.1:1) seem to handle it very well. In fact I can feel the ever so slightest difference between the cheap stuff and the good stuff.
Just post your compression, engine, cam, and octane.

i always use the cheap stuff, in my stock LO3, with headers, i run about 4* more timing than stuck down low, and retarded 2* up high.

with the 206/216 112 cam, i also run 87, about 10* more than stock down low, and retarded 3* up high.

Edit: I thought that i would add, in the Audi, i run 92, it has a 2 timing tables, and one for high-octane, one for lower, it actualy makes a very noticable diffrence.

92-93 octane. i think i have 9.5 or 10/1 compression. with moderate spark table had KC with 92 octane so remove 2 deg at KC spark cells and it went away. added back in the 2 deg this week and will see if reappears.

Ive accidently dropped a load of 87 in the GN, and not even hit the knock sensor.

I generally run 93-94, and that's just to be nice to the engine. Many years ago in a galaxy far far away I was doing fleet service on some trucks, and cop cars/ambulances. And the savings in fuel was always less then the reduced life expectancy of the engines. And this was on a 4-5 year survey. Since then I've always just run premium. Other then in the truck, I keep the tune on it very light so that it's not at all fuel critical. being used for open roas use, you just can't tell what for fuel you'll pick up from time to time, and judging by the WB it's truer then ever now.
I also have the BL and Int range limited so if I get a tank of some strange brew, the engine wouldn't go to far, and with the WB I can see if I have a problem.

Hi guy's,
Need to say that here in Europe (The Netherlands) we use 95 Octane (LB9), but the bad thing is that we pay $5.4 per gallon.
So a high mileage BIN file development for a 305 cid $6e BCC will be welcome (APYS). I will try the information in “Grumpy's Final Answer and Important Topics” in the near future.
Regards,
Cobra289

91 octane in my 10.25:1 385 motor, however many measures were taken to reduce the octane sensitivity of my motor.

Thats the best we got here in AZ, we gotta run the damn boutique fuels that are mandated in Cali.

I cant wait for the big earthquake to just rid us of that problem all together, plus my property values will go up as I would then be ocean front

87 or 89..........I do run 91-93 when its cheap :-)

No knock :-) 200psi cranking compression so im somewhere near the 10:1 mark for compression... 28-30 range timing at wot....

No knock anymore , unless u count the motor mounts ready to go and exhaust :-(

Im guessing and lessing its due to the vortec heads that im running

later
