Running a 1227749 on a non-boosted application?

I've been doing some manifold work, and it's getting a little tall for my MAF elbow (single plane). Thinking of going to MAP.

Since boost is probably in my (not so near) future, I was also thinking of getting things rigged up with a 1227749 and running the $58 code. Anyone have experience in this vein? I could do the 1227730, but I've got a few of the 749s laying around, so I figure what the heck?

There is an option bit in the cal tables that defines whether a 1 bar or a 2 bar MAP sensor is in place. Can use it either way.

Okay, I'll give it a shot then. Anyone done this? I mean I could put a 2-bar on there and it would just never see boost. Or check the box and run 1-bar.

More than anything, I'm curious about tuneability and what-not. Guess it would simplify the process a bit. I've always been a MAF guy, the ductwork is just getting ridiculous though.

You can run the '730 code in the 749 btw. I think you'll lose CCP, and air injection though.

Ever get ecm853 to link with $58??

Is this the one that has been talked about as a swap for the TBI apps like 8746 and 7747?

Constant #6 in the $58 ECU I've got allows you to select "Number of Cylinders" for 8, 6, 4 or TBI. I'd be interested to know if the TBI selection only works on a set number of cylinders (and if so, how many).

If Craig goes this route, it should take a nights work to get ECM853 to work with $58. =)

If he has good things to say about it, I may follow in his footsteps and swap to the '749 too. (Wait, I think I already do follow him! Lead on, Craig, good buddy.)

I tinkered with it. Could't get it to sync. Gave up for now.

Hows the CSV logging in TunerPRO coming??

While an option, I don't know if it's valid for all ecms. TBI on a 2 bark means firing the injector drivers alternately on every ignition pulse. The 730, and 165 have been used on 1 barrel applications, but I don't know of any public domained hacs of either.
