062 and 747???
062 and 747???
After researching these ECMs it looks like they use the same pinouts for all the circuits. I was wondering if I could just use an ECU for the 747 to edit proms for my 062???
Any opinions?
I can't seem to find anything for the 062 ecm. If I can not use the ecu for a 747 could I just swap ecms without re-pinning?
Sorry for the questions, I am a 730 $8D guy, this is a project I am helping my brother with.

Is this the 8062 tbi ecm? Theres not much around for that one. The proms are different since the code on each differs from one another. The better solution might be just to swap it for a 7747. The pinouts are the same for each ecm as they both have identical hardware.
Yeah it is in a 91 S10 w/a 4.3
So basically I am looking at a plug and play deal then?
Should I just start by running a bin from a similar setup? Basically like a blazer bin that ran a 747?
Thanks for your help.

I'm bangin' away with the same two ecm's right now in an 88 350 TBI Formula that I'm trying to calm down.. The two are interchangable as far as your vehicle hardware is concerned. The 062 won't run all 746/7 proms, something about different idle management programs.. I know for a fact that the 062 won't run the ANLU chip from the '89- 350 Caprice cop car..I've got some great links on this subject in my desk at work, try to get em up here tomorrow..
Thanks, I appreciate the help. I was thinking of actually swapping a 747 in place of the 062 and running a a code for the 747. What do you think? I figure it will work fine since the hardware is the same.

Hold the phone!
The 062 and 747 most likely do NOT have the same code (hence the number change). When they don't run the same code the eproms will not interchange! If the eproms don't interchange that means the ecu files aren't compatible.
The 747 ecu file won't let you edit the 062 bin files.
Even if the pin-outs are the same it doesn't mean the chips will swap. Infact none of the c3 chips swap between different ecms, only the p4 stuff like the 7730 and 7749. The ecms that have similar hardware AND all their code is in the chip will interchange. This is why you can run sy/ty turbo code in a 7730 ecm.
The ANLU bin won't work in a 7747 because the code in the computers are different. Example; onboard rom code says to look in the eprom code for "max spark advance" at location 1A3, if you use an eprom from the wrong ecm the location might be different. The result would be no run. If you want a better explination I can try again.
I too agree to just go with the 7747 or since it's a lighter weight truck you might even try the 8746, both will work and both have ecu files in public domain that'll work with TunerPro.

Yeah I knew you couldn't swap chips between the 2 ecms. Do you guys know of a good bin to start with? I know this really isn't the right place to be asking about chipping an S10 but I do appriciate the help. At least it does help some thirdgen guys out there too.
