Zif Socket on Adaptor

On the picture below can i desolder the 28pin chip of that board and resolder a 28pin ZIF socket in place of it? Then after i burn a chip can i insert in the ZIF socket and be good to go. I just found this not to long ago and im fixing to order a Burn1 and im assuming some (27C256 IC). The board with the prom has Hypertech written on it.

Yep, you're good to go now. Moates also has an aries zif, that you can plug into the G1 adapter, and simplify it even further, with a flick of a switch, to change EPROMS.

I got a Pocket Programmer today, but the guy i got it from didnt supply a disk with the software. I donloaded the demo but i dont know the limitations. Anyone know where i can the software from or can i just do it all from TunerPro RT?

Thanks Brutal for the info. Im fixing to try and read my Hypercrap chip and what it has to tell me (if the demo will let me do that)

Your welcome. Not sure about TunerPro, as I use Tunercat. I hope I am wrong, but you should have got the password from the guy you got it from. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you might have to purchase it from Xtronics if you dont have it, or it is lost, and you dont have it backed up on a disc.

I just fudged my whole damn thing up.

As I was VERY VERY carefully pulling the 27256 chip out of the adaptor it poped out at once, real quick, and unexpectantly and i bent half of the dam prongs. If i finally get them straight enough to insert back into my adaptor is it still going to work if i skip the WHOLE PP2 process until i can get me a few backup chips?

It should, if none broke off. You will know when you try.

Just came across a friend that has some spare 27c256 chips. I went ahead and ordered some AT29c256 chips last night from Craig and a ZIF socket to keep that crap from happening again.

Thanks

Yes, I meant to mention that before, that they are like $6.00 each, from Craig. I thought you bent the prongs on your OEM prom. The AT29C256 are what I use. IMO its the only way to go, as I did not have to buy an eraser.
