6E Maunal Tranny Flag?

Looking through the 6E flags i came across a flag that states " Manual Transmission". This is a mail order chip of a friends that is acting like crap, so im trying to play with it alittle. His car is a T5 89' Formula and this flag is "not" checked. Heres the .xdf info.

%%FLAG%%
000002 UniqueID =0x93
000003 BaseFlags =0x0
000004 VisLevel =0x0
030005 Title ="Manual Transmission"
030011 DescSize =0x14
030010 Desc ="0 = MANUAL XMISSION"
030050 SizeInBits =0x1
030100 Address =0x14
030150 Flags =0x0
030200 BitNumber =0x0
030300 ALDLObj1 =0x0
%%END%%

Should this be checked on a manual tranny car? WHat is its purose?

Thanks, Brian

I went ahead and did another search before i posted and found this info located here: $32B to $6E

X VATS Select, X = Enabled
0 Manual/Auto Transmission, X = Manual
X Normally Open Fan Request Input
X Veh. Speed Diag. (Err 24), X = Enabled
X EGR Diagnostic (Err 32), X = Enabled
X MAF Burnoff Diag. (Err 36), X = Enabled
X Knock Diagnostic (Err 43), X = Enabled
0 VATS Diagnostic (Err 46), X = Enabled
Is this correct? Im still interested in what the flag is implemented into.

I have yet to find a good explanation as to what the manual transmission flag does, exactly. I think the jury is still out on it.

When the manual trans flag is set, does it cause the shift light constants and tables to work?

APYP 6E hac indicates its the control of the TCC on an auto car if it is controlled by RPM or MPH.
don't know why it called that.
Might be that the Shift light and TCC worked on the same output. Don't know if thats true for this setup.

Well, I don't have code locations but it effects TC lockup, IAC, shift light. Anything else connected to that flag is not significant. My car is an auto with the manual flag set. That's because I'm running a racing transmission w/o lockup. For older transmissions (like a th350) I suggest to use the manual flag. Makes more sense to me...

GM wires up most cars for auto and manual. Then they just switch the flag and don't install a shift light for automatic transmissions. You can actually install the shift light on auto vehicles and the light will come on with TC lockup. Wiring under the dash is the same...
