ECM application
The system I got for my CJ-7 has a 16144288 ECM. The guy told me this was used for some V8's but the only place that says they were used for V8's is on Jonas Bylands site. When I look up parts for those models they all list a different ECM. I know the chip runs things but I was drawn to the GM EFI for the limp home feature. It is installed on a 5.9 litre and I am concerned how it will run in limp home mode.
Your thoughts please.

The Mask, ie code that it runs is the A0, MY 91-92.
If I'm not mistaken, it was for manual trannies only.

Am I correct then that the limp home program will not be the right one for my 360? What are my options?

The only thing I know about the 4288 is that is what I select to view my 16136965(caprice V-8) on WinALDL.
Given that it's a C3 and hardware wise they are all about the same...I would swap to something more user friendly.
I currently swap the 6965 with my 7747 using the same harness. I have the IAT still wired in so i can also pop a 1228746 in.
I don't run the 6965 because the software support isn't that avail (other than tunercat).
So until I buy that I just stick to my 7747.
But I would not think running a 360 on a 4.3 bin would be a good idea.
I know the limphome chips are different in the 7747 from 4,3 to v-8.
I do run the 7747 on 4cyl's (which the factory never did) using the V-8 limphome chip.
Works so far!!!

The guy that sold me my systen has agreed to solder the limp home chip from a 7747 into my ECM. I have had no problems but the limp home feature is one of the great things about this setup.
Thanks for the input.

I assume you are doing all the tuning yourself?
You are looking at modifying a bin file that was designed for the 4.3 and using it on your 5.9.
You could probably take most of the parameters and copy them over from a 5.7 bin but in the end you will have a 1 of a kind ecm that if it fails, you can't go to the store and get another.
I would think that the $20 it cost for a V8 1227747 would be worth it to have something easy to replace!
Just get an ECM from a 350 motor and plug it in.
Get your system operational then start working on tweaking it.

The kit was bought from Customefis and included the tuning. The reason he stated for using the 1614428 ECM was that it was a better ECM with features that most others do not have. He has modified the calibration to work with my 360. When I mentioned my concerns about the limp home chip, he finally agreed to do as stated above. He is also going to modify a spare ECM for me at a reduced price. I am also trying to get more familar with things so I can fine tune it further myself. I am sure I will need some help with that as I go along.
Once again thanks for the input and any further input will be greatly appreciated.
One more thought - is the 1227747 a direct replacement? Will it plug into the same harness?
