gonna have to say goodbye to $58 hello FMU

i cant for the life of me get my car running good with $58, it will not idle at the set amount and is up and down, wideband is showing rich, i set it the other day and it seemed to have a good afr at idle and revving and then the next day it's entirely different, is it just me or are others having problems, i dont see what the big deal is with this code, it shouldnt be that hard to tune. i'm gonna have to go back to $8D and an fmu

Do you have the MAT located in the plenum?.
You might have to tweak the MAT corrections.

I did play some with the BPC, and that seemed to help.

yes the mat is in the plenum, i'm going to have to start over freshly with a new bin and see what happens.

I would do this to start. Your Crane 2032 has (214+220)/4 - (2*112) = -7* degrees @ .050" of valve overlap. It should idle pretty good.

1) start with a fresh stock BBZB bin
2) no 10K ALDL resistor
3) set the BPC to 120 (305ci with 30#/hr)
4) zero out the closed throttle spark vs. RPM error ($58 swings a lot)
5) set min temp. for closed loope to 255 (to keep CL from messing with you at temp.)
6) remove 10% VE fuel at closed throttle (and make it flat around idle RPM)
7) look at MAP vaccuum and adjust VE highest vacuum (1bar in ALDL). Keep an eye on WBO2/NBO2 readings.
8) maybe a few degrees more of idle spark ( I like to stay less than 25*, it depends on the heads, cam, etc)

This is only a start. It may or may not work for you.

EDIT - stock BBZB uses a spark ref. of 0, I set it to 6* (stock TPI). Check that the ADS file is correct for timing and BPW. Some ADS have the timing w/r/t to ref and w/r/t distr. backwards.

ok heres the deal thanks for the info junkcltr i was using the $59 code off of moates site, i grabbed a stock bbzb 58 i set the bpc to 120 took 10% fuel out of idle and not idle tables, i had to take 30% out of the ve adder table for the lower rpm's this code seems to be a lot better as far as idling, but the ses light came on and set a code 34 35 and 45, i'm using a innovate wb and simulated nb it's showing around 1000v for the nb o2 throught the aldl, also target afr is showing around 14.7 but my eyes are burning cause it's still rich, i reduced my fuel pressure, all and all it's alot better then the other code. the search function is disabled, is there a wideband patch i need to put on the bbzb bin?

86Z, did you catch my post about mixing up the wires to pins D1 & B5? Looks like you did a 749 swap like me. Its worth a look. Mine ran real rich for no reason, no codes either. Make sure B5 goes to CTS and TPS ground, don't back probe ecm, disconnect from ecm then check, D1 is ground input, also disconnect to check.

I'm still plugging away with my code. It must work, others are using it successfully. In the end we will all have a better understanding of this code.

You can still sort of seach TGO through google. A google "wbo2 patch" turned up a TGO thread with this.

i never switched that wire, i originally had a 7730 SD setup, i assume that was for a 165 to 7749 swap, but thanks for the info, i've been following your posts., i just was looking at that $59 wideband code, a lot of stuff was changed compared to the stock bbzb

Everyone does it different, but I always start out with a stock bin and learn from there. This is for all ECMs. The toughest part is going to something new so you want it as simple as possible. New plugs, good gas, stockish bin, minimal ECM hardware, stock timing, etc.
The WBO2 patch is a must. It works great.
BTW, I just started up a bone stock 305ci with 30#/hr Fords with a stock BBZB modified pretty much like what I posted and it idled excellent. Had to reduce VE some. Stock cam made it really easy.

I think with a little bit of time you will have that vehicle idling well. Start out with stock stuff and use modified stuff only after looking through it / reading it in detail.

yeah i feel better about this version of code, junkcltr, which ads file are you using? i'm a little confused about what value for the datatracing, theres map pressure (1 bar), and vacuum in hg

what value are you using for your ve/spark tables?

what happens when the car is in boost? what value would show that?
