Question about TunerCat

I went and downloaded it... Opened it and... nothing. Just a blank screen with the CATS logo in the middle. WTF ? Most of the menus are greyed out except the File and Help menus. I tried to go Open something and there's no .bin's or anything in the /Tuner directory. How are you supposed to "test-drive" this thing for 30 days if they dont even give you a demo .bin to see how it feels ? Or am I doing something wrong here...!?

p.s. I ordered my pocket programmer 10 minutes ago. I can't wait to start doing my own chips! yay!

Okay chief ... relax

From the PROM burning article you know that you need a calibration file and TC comes with the calibration file for the 747 ECM. Now you just need a bin.

Go to...
ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/incoming/

and download...
747abhc.bin

Happy test driving!

I knew I was doing something wrong. But see... they're stupid! How's the average idiot like me, supposed to just figure out that I have to go download this .bin from somewhere when they say it's included in the package ?! lol

Burning EPROMs shouldn't be done by the average idiot. lol

TC assumes that you know what you are doing before you test drive the program.

Well they shouldn't. Although I do have a degree in electronics engineerings and several computer certifications, the reason I'm buying TunerCat in the first place is that it's easy to modify what I need to change and I don't have to know every little detail of the chip burning process. As far as I know, I'm supposed to download the "image" from my chip, THEN open it and modify it, not go to some website and download a copy so I can at least see what the program can do.

If it was that easy everyone would be doing it. If you are going to reprogram and IMPROVE your performance there is going to be alot of time spent understanding the how and whys of your particular addresses and raw values.

Now I realize what an idiot I was... LOL I still think they should at least have a "readme" file that explains what you have to do to get started at least.
