hypertech chips

does any one have or can make a simmilar chip for a modded car? 88 350 tpi (t-5???) no vats. I know they did not have 350 manuals but, some one might have made the setup. or will a 87 350 manual vett chip work? I just need something to help me along till my programmer comes and even then It will take some playing with till I understand it some.

I do not have the TDF for your car, so I cannot do a calibration. But if the TDF file is similar for your ecm as it is for mine, you can turn off VATS and it allows you to select Automatic or Manual.

I cannot answer whether an eprom for a Vette will work, but on my ecm there are differences between the Vette eprom and F-body eprom; primarily the Vette ecm has an oil temperature sensor input whereas the F-body does not.

TDF is the definition file that you need with TunerCat to read a particular calibration. The calibration is a BIN file that you can read from/program on to your eprom.

First, if you wish someone to make you a chip, it is better to e-mail them directly. There is a debate of whether to make this a Private Board again for that very reason. The "seniors" would like to keep it technical, not marketing.

That aside, I guess you are not understanding what I am saying. So I will try and explain it again. I need the TDF for your TPI (your ecm is different than mine). I only have the 8D.TDF, for your car I would either need a 32 (or 32B), or if you are prepared to dump the 9th injector, go to 6E (which is what is generally recommended).

So I would have to buy the correct TDF and then I could read your BIN and edit it.

I personally do not have a problem in helping people out to learn how to read/erase/burn an eprom. What I prefer is the person get the hardware (burner and UV eraser only needed), they read the eprom and then send me the BIN. From there I can modify it, but I can't, because I do not have the correct TDF for your car.

Mailing eproms (in your case a memcal) is a risky proposition. Lost in the mail or damaged (and that has happened to me in just buying an eprom), and you are out your entire memcal.

Also, I really prefer the person to have a scan tool that can caputer the information on send it to me so I can see how their car is running and determine how the mods are affecting it. Bottom line, modifying an eprom via long distance is quite a hassle. So I limit to simple changes, they must have the equipment and it must be for the ecm (mines the 730, yours is the 165) that I am familiar with.

For more complex changes, I prefer the person to be local due to the hassles of doing something custom via long distance.

Glen I think its cool you try to help people. Yeah theres legal issues but who gives a ****. Back in the day no one at the track said hey bud you set the idle mixture screw on my holley in to far, Im gonna sue your *** . Its a dam shame its come to that point. Its all about trial and error, and reverse engineering. No one around these parts is into burning so im ditching the gm ecm and going aftermarket. Hey why dont you or trax move san antonio. Its alot warmer in Gods country.
