870 to 7730

Does anyone know where I can find the information on converting from my 870 to a 7730? My MAF burnoff module ($900) just died, and I think that's reason enough. It seems like going to the 7730 would be way cheaper than DFI.

I spent some time looking through this site, and it's a little vague on a couple of points. Does anyone know if the harness connectors are the same on the 870 as they are on the 7730? Will I just need to repin, or will I need completely new connectors?

The 28 and 32 pin black harness connectors
will fit into the '870, '165' and '730
ECMs, and just need repinning. The '730
has one additional 32pin (green) connector
that you would need to get to repin some
of your harness wires into.

Mike,

Is the green connector the same as the black connector? I have a couple of extra black connectors that I could use, but no green ones.

The green connector is different. I have one and it wont' fit into the black connectors slot. It has a different plug. Just go to a bone yard and pick one up. Hopefully they won't charge you an arm and a leg.

Mojo,

There are usually '85 Maf Burnoff Boxes on ebay for less than $50... but getting rid of the '870 is the better thing to do. Just thought I'd mention the used ones in case you need one to hold you over until you do the swap.

You can use a yellow one from a six cyl. car too.
