USB to serial adapter driver
USB to serial adapter driver
I purchased a cable on ebay that came with a disk full of drivers, but I don't think it came with the correct driver I need. On the cable it say RS232 and I think this also should refer to the driver that I require. Does anyone have or know where I can locate a driver so that windows will recognize that I have a serial adapter in a USB port?? I purchased this cable from Hong Kong, so even though I have contacted the seller I am not really expecting any kind of a response. Any help that you guys can provide would be appreciated.

Most of the time, WinXP automatically finds the driver (especially if connected to internet).
Be warned: a lot of those USB-Serial convertors don't work with 8192 baud ALDL because they do not support non-standard baud rates.

So if my ALDL connection is 8192 baud is there a converter out there that I can buy that will work correctly with my USB port?? I was still hoping there might be a way to get this cable to work.

You have to experiment with them to see what works and what does not. I got lucky on mine when I was using it for my pocket romulator, but then I recently bought Craig Moates Ostrich which uses USB for emulating the EPROM. I use his ALDL adapter which is USB for datalogging. Craig's stuff is awsome you should try his components. My RS232 adapter is used for datalogging my Zeitronix wideband so everything is now compatable. The only issue is if I screw up the com port assignments which can pull your hair a bit.

So noone has any good web links or sources where I can find a driver for this USB to RS232 adapter. What about guys who have made their own cables. Is it all just trial and error to get the settings down pat??
