Compatability question... GM and Honda chip burning...

Don't know if you guys would know the answer to this or not, but i know most honda guys would have no clue. i have two cars im thinking about getting into tuning for. one is an 85 IROC-Z with TPI and the second is a 91 Acura integra with OBD0 that im thinking of throwing a turbo on. while looking for a cheap way ro tune the integra i ran across TurboEDIT for the integra and found out i could chup the stock ECU in it to tune. well i know from previous readings (have had the iroc longer) that i can chip it and tune it myself, but i had never really had a need to. while i was looking at a vendor for tuning stuff i ran across a name (
Moates Ostrich Eprom Emulator and Moates BURN1) i had seen before and got to thinking...

Will I be able to tune both cars with the same equipment? Also if i get the Osterich do i need the burn1? and would i be able to tune the iroc with turboedit as well?

the chip for the integra will be a SST chip (27SF512), im not sure on the ship for the iroc though (dont remember for it).

Yes, the Ostrich/Burn1 will work with both your Honda and your Iroc. Ask questions about your Iroc here, and ask about your Honda elsewhere.

also i read a tech article (that i cant get to now for some reason, coming up as a blank page) that i should upgrade the ECU in the iroc to a later one that gives more readings and has a faster speed. am i correct to assume that the same chip stuff works for that ECU aswell?

What ECM is in it now? If it's a 1227165, then stick with that. If not, upgrade to a 1227165.

Theres your first research assignment, then. The '165 is both slow and fast, depending on the year. Go figure out that puzzle. =)

The info is out there (actually, in here) waiting to be found.

You have the '870 computer, which transmits the data at 160 baud, compared to 8192 for the '165 computer. See:

My 85 Z28 and EPROM Project

on how to switch from the '870 to the '165 computer.
