No Onboard ROM to fight

On the C3 series of ecms, you can rewire them and remove the onboard ROM, so that all the code and stuff can be rewritten. On my 1227148, a friend just did this for me. Now instead of using a 2732 I can use a 27128, and do whatever I want code wise.

Still lots of work to do, as far as commenting the code, and getting it so it reassembles, but the car runs just fine on this *new* ecm.

The C3 series covers all the 3rd Gen TBIs, and 747.

There is more to come.
It will be awhile, but once I get a lil further along, I hope to develope some patchs that can be transferred from one Mask to another. ie like an antilag feature, that would run in the 730s, 165s, 749s, 148s, 747s, etc..

I'm still working on it, but I'd like to have module code, so anyone could graft together any program they wanted.

Now thats what i like. Kinda like useing the "python" language and adding in modules to handle different tasks (sorry but that's my way of thinking). Would be nice to say "Hrm i'd like my 165 ECM to have, this that, and that...That would better suit my application" Keep us updated

89 IROC-Z 350 TPI

-Flowmaster Catback
-Performance Resource Chip
-700R4 (Rebuilt) Too much done to actually list
-K&N Airfilters
-Ported Plenum
-2.77 Gears (not much to brag about but eh, its there)
-MSD 8.5 mm plug wires
-Gutted cat
-!AIR
-Gutted Air Boxes

You mean to say that now the 85 TPI cars can tune their proms. I mean, they're still going to have the 160 baud (doesn't lockers have live data?) and other things to worry about (MAF) but now a nearly stock engine can run better. Did I interpret this right?

How much work was involved, was it simply a matter of rewiring the chip select from the onboard rom chip to one of the free address lines on the larger eprom, and copying the onboard rom to this memory area?

I'm interested in removing the ROM and having all code on one eeprom. I've done a search and I can't find the goods, could somebody explain the process. I do know that the ROM code needs to be read, done that, now what. I'm curious to start experimenting with serious source code, these small patchs are great and all but they don't let you change much unless you remove code to "make room" for new.
I know Grumpy isn't posting anymore but does anybody know who he's talking about when he mentioned that a friend converted it for him?
