Also, if the two cars have the same engine (or type of engine) then swapping the ECM is okay...in fact, only the Memcal is different between the two.
But if one is a TBI V8 and the other is a V6, then no, you can't swap the ECM as they are different.
And TPI uses it's own ECM again.

Good thing is, The TBI doesn't have a memcal. So theorectically(sp?) all you would need is the PROM itself. If you pull the cover on your current ECM you will see the removable chip(PROM). All you need is one from the SAME engine but for a manual.

i just kept the stock prom from my 87 iroc, that had a 305 in it, and swapped the computer from the 90 i took the 350 from. the 87 was a manual, and the 90 was a automatic.... works fine for me... no problems yett....
