Why waste your time with a 27C356 eprom when for virtually the same price, you can buy an AT29C256 Flash Prom?
A Flash Prom does not need a UV Eraser, as it is erased electroncally. The erasing time is only seconds compared with 15 minutes (to start) and slowly gets longer and longer (with a regular eprom). AND, a Flash Prom has a virtual indefinite life while you are lucky to get 25-50 times with a regular eprom prom.
I say "virtually indefinite" as a Flash Prom does have a limitation on how many times you can erase/re-program...but it MANY MORE times than a regular eprom. I have re-programmed my current Flash Prom over 130 times and it still works fine and dandy. When I "hit the limit", I will tell you what it is.
