blm doesnt seem right

I was doing some logging via winaldl and it just doesn't seem right. I'm getting a 128 blm reading but am throwing a 02 sensor code and a rich code every so often? any explination for that

My first guess would be a bad O2. Does the BLM change at all anywhere in the rpm/map range?

Bad/flakey O2 is a good possibility. Definitely best to change it to see if that cures the problem...especially if he O2 sensor has a few years/miles on it.

If it still happens after changing the O2 sensor, try to determine if this happens under some specific operating condition (going up/down a hill for example). Some times you may hit P/E (due to the TPS settings) but not really have the "pedal to the metal". But because you are in P/E, the BLM goes to 128.

But I agree with AtomicTruck and would start with a good O2 sensor.

Two other things: 1) Is it always stuck in the same cell? 2) Are you using an actual eprom or Flash Memory with an adapter? If you are using an actual eprom, how many times has it been used and are you constantly increasing the erase time?

I found that eproms need to have the erase time increased after every few burns or the eprom MAY appear to re-program correctly but in fact give "weird errors".

Hopefully, you "saved" the original eprom and can try using that to see if the problem persists or if it goes away.

(Debugging requires a bit of creativity to isolate problems sometimes...you need to look at ALL the differences you have from stock and go backwards, trying to eliminate each difference until you find the source. If you have already tried all this, then go back to the O2 sensor...I'm just tossing out ideas that you may not have tried or thought of).

I think you need to disclose more information about what you've done to your car, modification wise.

For starters, a TBI ECM does not control the fan On/Off points. And if you have an auto, have you rewired your engine harness for the TCC?

Yes, more info is always good.

Remember to increase the erase time by a minute after every so many burns ... but eventually, the eprom will no longer erase properly, no matter how long you erase it. Give that a try first.

If the same thing happens try changing the O2 sensor and another increase in the erase time.
