V6 bin/xdf
Hey all,
I'm having a hard time finding information on the V6 proms. Could someone give me a hand? I found the ecu files for the 730 no problem, but if I could be pointed to the bin's that would be great. I don't trust the bin thats in my computer now cause its been monkeyed with already and i'd like to start from scratch. Or if someone could point me to a look up table to decode the aujp bin codes that would work too!

The v6 info seems to be a bit more scarce. you have a 730 in your '89? I'll try to help you but I'm still learning, too. I have some files that might help you out.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
I swapped ecu's for SD. My MAF broke for the last time so I said heck with it! I actually have the 12198262 which I guess is the updated version of the 730. Is this what you have too?
I just found the V6 bins on Moates this morning. The thing I'm still missing are the definitions. Any idea how to get the right one? The hex code naming thing is still throwing me off.

I have a stock 1988 2.8 V6 calibration stored on my computer in text form.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
Is that right? The 1988's were MAF. That looks like MAP code?
I think its easier to read like that versus the tunerpro layout. Just me though.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
Its a 1989 2.8 V6 prom. It is Speed Density for a 7730. The 2.8 was dropped in 1990 for a 3.1. The ECM code is $88 hence the confusion. The TEXT file actually is exported from TunerProRT.

Lol, its all good. So its an $88 1991 3.1 code then? Its exactly what I have in my car at the moment. Thank you for sharing! I'll probably print it out and study it since I can't get my V8 code to idle right. What you posted is very easy to read.

Hey Fast355, do you have a copy of a stock '86 2.8 MAF tune? I plan on switching my crappy '302 over to a '165 soon so I'll need it. Thanks.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
cool, glad to see someone else working on tuning their v6 (that's not MAF!)! I haven't hardly had time to mess with the tuning on mine, lately. But, I'll definitely keep reading about what's working and whats not!

Re: V6 bin/xdf
bl89c - you should be able to find these on moates.net. There is a section that has all the bins in it.
With my current V6 bin I'm trying to get the open loop AFR up. It runs really rich at idle. Would this be handled in "Idle Volumetric Effec" table or "Main Volumetric Eff" table?

Re: V6 bin/xdf
The idle/low-speed VE table is in use whenever idle state conditions are met, and the RPM is less then 1600. Other wise it uses the high speed VE table. Note that the main VE table is added in when either of the tables are used.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
my open loop idle is very rich also. I haven't spent a whole bunch of time on it but I haven't had any luck getting it back to where it should be, yet.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
Mine is so rich, it won't hold idle unless I blip the throttle continuously till its warm. And then when its warm, the idle picks up slowly till it hovers around 2400, till I blip the throttle. Its that rich.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
mine will typically sit there and idle but once its warm, it'll load up so bad I can't hardly get the rpms up enough to get up to speed until it clears out.

Re: V6 bin/xdf
what duration and overlap are you running on your cam? I'm hoping its not that overlap thats killing me. If its not running at enough manifold vacuum that could effect it. I just thought of it so I'm going to look. What kPA equals what voltage? 5V=100kpa 0V=0kPA?
