Disable EGR?

Disable EGR?
I have been having some tunning problems and would like to start fresh. I had a chip burned for my car but after two attempts and scans the car still isn't right. So now what I would like to do is to start with a stock BIN and adjust the fuel injector constant and go from there. However I have deleted the EGR on my car, and not quite sure how or if the EGR needs to be disabled.
Thanks,
Craig

Re: Disable EGR?
I think I may have found it. There is a field called Disable EGR if MAT < x and it asks for a degree. So if I put 200 or something that will disable the EGR if the MAT temp is also below 200 correct?
Thanks,
Craig

Re: Disable EGR?
Actually, make it 255 which is the highest value possible. Then it will never kick in.
BTW, probably the reason no one replied earlier, you didn't describe which ECM or calibration you are using. Without knowing, people may be reluctant to answer as the particular constant, switch or table may not exist if it does not exist on your particular calibration.
On the $8D (SD) and $6E (89 MAF) there are other constants that also can be set which will also disable the EGR that could be used too. I personally like to set them ALL - just to make sure.

Re: Disable EGR?
Hey thanks for the pointer. I am using the 6E and like you said there are other constants. For me this looked like the easiest to set. I understand what you are saying about the other ones also. I will look at getting those. Do you know of the top of your head what the absolute maximum is to set those to as well?
Thanks again,
Craig

According to DIY-EFI 1228062 was used in
1988-93 truck 2.8 V6 TBI “R” LL2
1988-91 truck 4.3 V6 TBI “Z” LB4 w/ AT (“S” & “T” body)
1989 truck 2.8 V6 TBI “R” LL2 (Isuzu)
1990-91 truck 2.8 V6 TBI “R” LL2 (Isuzu)
Program ID: 78 ($4E)
EGR Enable Coolant Temp Threshold is a 8 bit value in 0x19C. In a stock Bravada application it is $B6 (96.5 C). Set this location (0x19C) to $FF which is way above a maximum temperature that engine could possibly will ever see. EGR will never turn on.

Re: Disable EGR?
So If I set Disable EGR if MAT < X to 255 the EGR will never go on ? on the ARAP bin ? I dont have to change something else ?
The EGR is on the car but we want to check if the car runs better with EGR disables.. correct that the EGR never will go on if I set 255 on Disable EGR if MAT < X ??

Hey TheKing
Yes, if Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) is set to 255 it should prevent EGR from ever enabling. There are other variables used to control EGR as well such as minimum MPH and %TPS (i think).

Re: Disable EGR?
It wont run better unless it's faulty. It only kicks in at highway speeds, and doesn't operate at full throttle, or anything less than highway related speeds. Honestly it's one of those things that helps more than it hurts when it's functioning, but it's not neccesary - No point in taking it off if it works, no point in putting it on if it's not on.

Re: Disable EGR?
The thing is that we want to try if the engine runs cooler without it, the IAT goes to 70deg celcius.. and the engine temp is at 92degcel....
This is just for trying, one short run and if the temp is the same, we will activate it again...
EGR is activated as soon as you give a little throttle. you can see it in tts datamaster logg, EGR goes up to 100 whenever you puch the gaspedal..
set everything to 0 with EGR and disable egr if MAT to 255.... will just try..
