From 19 to 24lb inectors in blown 305

I have a 91 305 TPI with 19lb injectors...
I need to replace the GM with Ford injectors cuz the GM lock up under pressure, the Ford's can handle them... Using the FMU. Going to use an ATI D1SC with Low Boost...

I have a Moates APU1, what / where do I need to change to go from the 19's to the 24's to get in the ball park for a tune?

ATI directed me to thier 3rd Gen guy (Larry) who says he replaces the 22's in the 350's with Ford 24's because they will not lock up under pressure from the FMU... since the 22's and 24's are so close, he doesn't need to do anything to the ECM... but going from 19 to 24, I'm sure I will need to...

I am well aware of code59, but here is my dilema...

Buy some 24's for $75 and away I go...

Or Code $59...
$350 for 42lb injectors (which will need replacing when I rebuild motor and go to 350+)
$300 WideBand 02
$75 3 BAR Map Sensor
+ new motor, tranny, rear end.... $$$$$!!!!

So I just want to go the least expensive route now and have some fun with it now...

Here are the ones I'm looking at, think they are he proper ones...

Thanks,

Rafael

Head over to moates.net and get the Burn1, some flash chips, and a G1 adapter. You may want to also get the HDR1 (?). This will enable you to easily read your stock EPROM.

Download TunerPro along with the $8D XDF file so that you can edit the BIN.

Then change the injector constant, burn a chip, plug it in and turn the key. Adjust as required.

If you want least expensive as you stated, then go with the 24s and FMU. Contact Ryan.Hess here at TGO for a "G1" adapter board for $15 and MCUMall.com for a Willem programmer for $50. The Willem is a better programmer.

I've got the G1 ziff adapter, APU1, H1, Tuner Pro, etc...

I'll dig into Tuner Pro and look for the injector info, etc...

R those the right injectors???

Thanks,

Raf

I see no reason why the 24s wouldn't work with 59... you may even get away with running the stock injectors since you won't need the fmu. either way, good luck. I poped my first motor trying to run an fmu and not having a wideband on it. now that I know better, I'd say its almost crazy to try and tune for boost without a wideband. my advice would be to slow down, if you need to money. sell your fmu on e bay and use the money for the 3bar, and save for a wideband o2. it will make your life more enjoyable in the long run.

Re: From 19 to 24lb inectors in blown 305

19lb injectors for a stock 305 will not flow enough fuel for a blown 305 @ 8 or 9lbs of boost... that's why I need the fmu... if I got 42 lbs injectors, no fmu needed since code 59 could monitor boost and control the injectors that flow enough fuel...

I may invest in the wideband, since it can be used now / later and a small investment over a new engine...

I just picked up those injectors for $61

Missed that you have the APU1. The 42 # injectors would also be difficult to tune in for idle and low RPM driving.

Change the injector constant and tune in the non-boost stuff first.

Re: From 19 to 24lb inectors in blown 305

86z here has a 305 Procharged TPI with 42lbs injectors... he has helped me with code59.....

But because of budget and my current tuning knowledge (or lack of), I would prefer to go the route you stated...

The Wideband is something I would keep and use regardless, so I may pick up one first too...

& I really want to hear that blower whine with my 5 speed
