Controlling Async

just an fyi ...... have spent the last few months reading all the post on this great site .... lots of good info .... and thx for posting up ....

we're just getting started with a CFI 355 .... the challenge is the cam size .... but before we can really get into it ..... we have to get some stability in our tuning ....

the ASYNC is going in and out .... even though we have the transition set at 0 ..... we get idle in the ball park ... but with this thing bouncing in and out .... it becomes almost not doable .....
it there something else missing ..... I understood by setting this transition, i would be done with ASYNC ..... what am I missing .. ?????

thx guys .....

Re: Controlling Async

You did not say which parameter you set to zero. The one you want to reduce is "Min sync pw to enter async" not "Min async pw".

The second thing I would say is that if you get the injector offset correct it will transisition from sync to async without disrupting idle.

Re: Controlling Async

When is it moving to "asynch" fueling?

I disabled asynch fueling totally as I have sufficient capacity using synch only. My situation may be diff than yours. I was seeing unstable idle as pulse width was to small at idle.

Re: Controlling Async

its bouncing back and forth during hi idle (1k) have got fairly good idle between 850 & 900 ... but with this bouncing back and forth ... causing PW and WB fluctuations ... and will eventually drop dead ... (2 mins max)

Re: Controlling Async

What size injectors and what fuel pressure?

Large injectors with high fuel pressure requires a reduction in proportional gain.

Lock SA IDLE if your mask allows. Flatten the SA tables around the SA you idle in. Same on VE table. VAFPR is helpfull as well for low PW at idle.

I idle on the throttle stop screw at 0 IAC steps. Helped me controll idle. Some use the commanded idle RPM and then it is controlled by IAC at 5-10 steps.

Re: Controlling Async

thx Ronnie ..... appreciate you posting up ..
my injectors are matched 90s ... running 20lbs of pressure ...
I looked at pulling the IAC down ... but wasn't certain which table to do that for me ...

after reading ... and saving a bunch of links on different topics .... just about the time you think you've got a handle on it ... actually doing becomes another challenge ...

will keep working on it ..... and again .... thx a bunch .... and i will continue to do searches to find more on these topics .... I just want to get started learning .... I am such an

Re: Controlling Async

Getting things to settle down a bit ... though still getting occasional in and out of Async ... getting the fuel it wants make the process a lot easier ....
Will get the idle back down tomorrow and begin the learning process again .... at least a fairly good place to start ..... More Fuel !!!! ....
