How can I tell if it is custom prom?

I pulled the PROM and it looked as normal as I would expect. No special sticker with a name on it etc. Both fans are running constantly with engine running. With key on the pass. fan is running. Trying to figure this car out. I have no prom equipment to test with.

You guys are just editing the originals proms correct?

See the DFI & ECM board here. Up top in the sticky's there is a picture that shows stock stuff.

We always recommend to start tuning with a stock BIN.

if the fans are on all the time sounds like you are in lhm, can you establish a connection to the ecm ( blink codes) ir connect a scanner or tunerpro ? This may be a incorrect or bad memcal or ecm.

I can get code 12 to infinity with paperclip. SES light comes on if idling and CTS is disconnected otherwise, SES light is off as one would hope despite the emissions nightmare.. Just dont understand why fans are working like this.

I did have 15 and 42 set as a result of my unplugging CTS.

The reason I am asking is that the Supercharger is designed to work with a stock PROM/"chip" and the fans are not cycling like stock causing me to wonder about the prom's .bin

Re: How can I tell if it is custom prom?

LHM is Limp Home Mode. If you did the paperclip trick and get code 12 and only code 12 your not in LHM.

There is a sticker on chip, to reburn a chip it has to come off, UV light to erase then reburn. You can't get the sticker off and back on without it looking like it was off and back on.

The code 42 happens when you set timing, if it cleared and stays off your fine.

With a blower on an engine (or without) you really need a scantool. Without you are in the dark about everything the engine is doing.

The secondary fan runs when called for by the fan switch in the head. It is a mechanical backup and not controlled by the ECM. Check to see if switch is closed (grounded) all the time if so replace. the A/C also controls the secondary fan. At least thats my take of it.
