is a 383 as easy to tune as a 350?
OK, I have read up on this a lot here, but really never saw a definitive answer. So...with all things being fairly equal between the two (similar heads, cam, CR, induction, exhaust, etc....) is it harder to correctly tune a 383 (as opposed to a 350)? or is there really no difference in tuning between the two?

No difference. They both require a number of changes from stock so you kinda work your way up from stock bins to what the motor wants. Getting it fired up is first step. From there you can start working datalogs and find what motor wants

ok, that makes sense; I was reading a lot of conflicting stuff and couldn't tell if it made a difference or not. thanks

To behonest tuning a 12 sec heads cam L98 vs my 11 sec 383 vs my 9 sec twin turbo 401, its all the same to me. Same concepts applied, same difficulty imo

I am planning to burn chips. Not because I want to but because it leaves everything intact (wiring harness, sensors, etc...). Is there an aftermarket system that leaves most everything in place but is more tuner friendly?
Nowadays, most systems will self tune the VE for you, just give it a target and let it do its thing. You'd be surprised how tame what people feel a radical cam for a particular engine can really be, regardless of engine size. All you really need to focus on is your timing, that is until ion sense tuning becomes a realization with the systems that we use. However, if your focused on chip burning, then it can be a lengthy process either way. Harder? Not really. A little longer to correctly tune? Depends...
