Bosch LSU 4.2 + 7730 + tunerpro RT ??

I'm going to break down and get a wideband O2. Tired of guessing on AFR...

However I want to pipe it into Tunerpro for playback vs commanded AFR.

Since I'm new to WB's, want to make sure I'm on the right track...

If I follow this...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/dfi-...-wideband.html

and use a Bosch LSU 4.2, it'll accomplish the goal?

It sounds like from reading that all WB's run from 0 to 5V?

Thanks

You don't have to use an LSU 4.2 specifically, and due to how much more they are than the LSU 4.9 I would use a WBO2 controller that uses a 4.9... but either work just as well in my experience.

Yes, most WBO2 controllers output a 0-5V AFR/Lambda signal that is then used by a datalogger or ECM. There are a few exceptions, I know Autometer for a while was 0-4V iof they aren't still that way.

I've used Innovate LC-1s, 14point7.com products (SLC_DIT v1, SLC_PP2, and plan to buy more from 14point7.com soon, for some other projects), and AEM. I'm currently running an AEM Failsafe gauge in my car, because I got it used for a great price, but it didn't have the sensor, and since it uses an LSU 4.2, it was more expensive and harder to get around here than the LSU 4.9.

So basically any WBO2 can be used for your goals. I suggest getting one with a built in display so that you can compare and even adjust the ADX to match actual AFR. Also if you prefer USB connectivity to the WBO2 for any adjustments or direct datalogging I suggest the 14point7.com SLC controllers (SLC_DIY, SLC_PP2), they all have native USB built in. My AEM Failsafe gauge has USB as well, but I don't know about other AEM products.

Thanks. Dont they have a pre-calibrated relationship between voltage and AFR? I'm wondering if I need to get the gauge along with the sensor?

I don't understand your question....

You use the sensor that matches the controller, you can't swap between the sensors using the same controller, if that's what you're asking. I just wouldn't limit myself to only using the 4.2...

Basically just wondering if I need the controller to calibrate the ADX if I already know the voltage vs AFR. Can I just set the ADX with that relationship and just go with that?

What?

Are you thinking you can buy just the sensor and connect it directly to the ECM?

According to the link I posted, yeah. Am I missing something? Looking to have it read out on Tuner Pro...

No, the link is only discussing where to connect the output from the controller to along with some seemingly convoluted way to convert that voltage reading in the ADX from JP, or really just an in depth explanation. Also the only sensor I saw explicitly mentioned in that thread was the 4.9... but again, that's just what the controller was designed to be used with.

You need a WBO2 controller regardless. The controller does just that, controls the WBO2 sensor itself, and then creates a 0 to 5V signal to send to a datalogger or ECM. That output is what the ECM uses to get the AFR data into the datastream, as long as the BIN is set up for it, or you have an input you can use (such as EGR position), and then edit the ADX to use that signal to be converted to an AFR display within Tuner Pro. If using the later technique the input is used strictly as a voltage reading which is converted to what is called "counts" (really just a binary value of the voltage) and it is these counts that is then converted to AFR numbers to be displayed on the Tuner Pro dash.

More of the latter
The scale can be different based on what the controller is outputting for a certain AFR.

To scale any of your ADX display values,
Subtract the "minimum AFR" from the "maximum AFR" = (AFR counts)
AFR counts divided by 255 (8 bit ECM resolution) = AFR per bit resolution
This will be the "step" amount in AFR that you will be able to see.

Your ADX conversion would be... "X +Min AFR"
(AFR Counts/255) + Minimum AFR

This could be different if using a gauge that has a different scale than the actual WB controller output.
I have mine setup so the gauge (10-20 AFR) and the logging 7.**-22.**) are the same AFR value.

Mx +B for each device

Hi Mike,

I have a Dual WBO2 setup for the 7730, Moates AutoProm, and the Dynamic EFI TT-1.

The Dual WBO2 data appears in the TunerPro log.

If you are interested, please contact me.

Alternatively, search for posts from me on the TunerPro setup.

Best Regards,

Bruce
