Diode

On the 2 tansistor cable I can't find the 1N4148 diode at the local radio shack. Is there any suitable replacement?
165 ECM in an 88 formula using moates software
Thanks

I would imagine that a 4001 would work fine. I will check tomorrow @ work & drop a line.

The 1N4001 ought to work fine. the Man here says that the difference is that it has a higher reverse bias voltage than the 1N4148.

If you can't find those either let me know, I have a few 1N4148's lying around that you can have. That way you won't have to pay some companies stupid base shipping fee for something that could be sent in an envelope

Whoa, just realized you're just up the interstate from me, probably only take a day or so to mail them.

any small signal diode with a PRR of 20 volts or higher will work

there are hundreds

even a radio shack empoyee should be able to hook you up with some thing

any of the 1N400X series will work

I thought I would chime in here. I wouldn’t use one of the 1N400X diodes as they are designed as a rectifier diode and the 1N4148 is a high speed switching diode. Radio Shack sells a 1N914 that is a direct cross to the 1N4148, and their dirt cheep, like $2.50 for 50 of them. Some will tell you to leave that diode out, but it is there to eliminate the reverse bias condition from the BE junction of the transistor. With out that diode there is a (vary, vary slim) possibility of developing a “leaky junction” in the transistor. It’s cheep insurance. This type of failure is vary hard to fine when trouble shooting.

Long story shot; go get some of the 1N914s from RIP Shack….
