What kind of laptop do you use?
What kind of laptop do you use?
Just want to get a sampling of prefered setups so I kinda know what to look for on ebay. Also what OS do you find to be the most compatable with the various software? My desktop right now is running WinXP Pro right now, but I have a copy of Win98SE somewere around here. Anyway, what do you think. Thanks.

Most of the software works just find with W95 or 98 (including SE). The problem comes if any of the software needs to use DOS (like Diacom) or some of the eprom burning software like Windows Pocket Programmer. With ME, you no longer have "DOS Mode" and must come up in Safe Mode.
I am using an older W95 Toshiba I picked up for $50.00 and it works just fine for all my Windows and DOS applications. For large analysis of the Excel and the BIN, I will generally use my larger desktop computer and just transfer the BIN to the notebook where I do my eprom burning. I do this only because some of my Excel spreadsheets get quite large and I am not patient enough to wait for my W95 machine. The W95 works fine, just a bit slow.

I'm using an HP Pavilion Notebook 1.0G AMD Athlon 4 processor, 258 meg ram, with Window ME. I have the PP2 with the Windows version of software (WIN_PRG ver 1.02) and so far have had no problems burning from Windows(about 50 burns to date). Was using a Fujitsu 133 MHz machine with Win95 before I got this one.

Glenn,
I'm rotating burns between 3 AT29C256s. Haven't had a bit of trouble with them or the programming software with this machine or the old 133/win95 combo.
