Big cam and high compression 383 with tpi

i am in need of some help getting started with chip burning on tuner pro with the moates kit.
I have a .640 lift cam in a 383 with about 13.5:1 motor. going to be running E85 and 60lbs injectors but i cant seem to find a bin to get me started.
the bins i have tried also dont seem legit in the sence of not making any sence once i load it into tuner pro with the 32xdf file.
does anyone know where i should start on the programming side to get a good chip burned for this motor?

If it was a 86-88 with 32b i would try a $6E 89 file. Delete cold start injector.

you’ll make the basic changes like commanded idle speed, injector size, fan temps, and might need to add fuel to maf table 1 for idle. See if it starts. play with cranking fuel and open loop fuel Change vs coolant temp fueling to get it to run.

also disable closed loop for now.

thats about all you can do for now. Use a wideband o2. If it sputters and tries to fire up, wideband will tell you what the fuel is doing. Use any stock timing table, for now. Adjust idle areas of the timing map which will be 800-1200 rpm between 64-90 ish lv8. Probably wants to be 26-32 deg. Depending on heads and how big cam actually is.

If it runs with a stock chip then you dont need another bin. Start with that and start tuning. Hardest part is just getting the thing fired up and running enough to get data to change

I was under the impression that you can’t tune the stock chip...?

No, but use that bin. There should be a bin code on it or the ecm cover plate

Suggest you read the stickys in the diy prom board for tuning and how to get started threads. This sounds like its abit over your head at the moment but the links and info in that section will set you up.

if you need to find bin files, try tunerpro website in the downloads section, or join gearhead efi forum. There are download sections there for files

Back to basics to identify correct mask and xdf file first: What year car and which base bin?

Note: $32 and $32B bins share the same mask id byte, so they can be easily confused unless you dig deeper into the bin for a sanity check. My guess is that you have a $32B (87-88) bin, but are trying to use a $32 (86) xdf file.

The car is an 86 iroc

I am using my stock bin pulled from my stock chip (now) that actually worked with the motor a bit.. enough to drive home (with the stock injectors) but i have now ordered 60lbs injectors and an adjustable fuel regulator for E85. already put in a 340 e85 pump to.

I also switched to the 6E.xdf file and seem to be making progress on a tune as far as actually loading in the data, and understanding the process but we will see once its in.

Also, anyone know where or if i even need to do anything on the tune to mesh with me adding bigger injectors and running e85? obviously will be needing 30% more then 93 but im not seeing anything in 6E to make any adjustments.

Like stated, use the correct xdf to modify the bin. You’ll be chasing your tail .

Re: Big cam and high compression 383 with tpi

If you are determined to do this yourself, I would get a full sequential stand alone management computer and not bother with the stock ECM.

60lb injectors, while doable, will run better in sequential than in bank fire. And I hope you got injectors that come with GOOD data or you will have no end of problems. Personally I prefer injectors from ID (Injector Dynamics) as they have the most reliable data. I have ID1050's (100lb per hour) in my 86 with full sequential injection and my startup and idle quality is nearly perfect. My car is a daily driver.
