Alright heres the deal.... 4 months ago had......
88 Iroc 305 TPI 5 speed, all stock
Just got it running last week with.......
355 TPI, World Products S/R torquer heads (2.02/1.60) with a $400 machine shop port job (best porting job Ive ever seen), AFPR, 24lb INJECTORS, Extremely nice port job on the plenum, about 12 hours of porting on the manifold (not the best job, but it should be a lot better than stock), SLP 1-3/4" stainless headers, 3" SS y pipe, gutted cat, 3" aluminum hooker catback....... and some other small odds and ends....
Well it starts right up, but it runs really rich, and when you drive it it "pops" in the gutted converter....
I am really interested in burning custom chips, but what all would I have to do to for the fuel injectors....... Is there a box called the fuel injector constant, and i would just change it from 19lb to 24lb....... I know you guys would change the whole chip to get the best optimum performance, but Im not on that level yet........ I have school 35 hours a week, and work about 25 hours a week, so I dont have a lot of time. Do you think it would be worth shelling out $350 for an ed wright chip?? I like the idea of burning my own proms as Im pretty smart and like to do stuff like this....... Tell me what you think??? Also, try not to be to rough with the replies on my newbie @$$!

Get your own PROM burning stuff, can be had for less than the figure quoted easily. By changing the FI constant alone, you will be able to get it very close. By that time, you'll be ready to change a few other things... But it will probably dial in pretty darn close with just the FI constant update. Very easy, very straightforward.

I'm in the same boat. I've got the stock 85 ECM and chip in my car with a 355 & SVO 24lb injectors. Car runs rich as hell. Leaves black spots under the tail pipes in the garage, and fouls plugs. The new ECM & harness, along with custom PROMs is in my bedroom waiting to go on.
custom PROM burning is definately the way to go. It's inexpensive, and nothing else in the world will begin to teach you so much about TPI operation as getting into PROM burning and understanding all of the parameters.

1- What do I set the fuel injector constant at for 24 lb stock lt1 injectors.... (is it 23???)
2- Jim85 is there anyway you could change just the injector constant and fan controls with your new burning equipment if i sent you the prom???? or anyone else for the matter

I would expect the injector constant for the 24lb injectors to be 24lbs. Maybe you know something I don't?
I'm not sure that I'm the one you want burning proms. I haven't even burned any of my own yet.

Trust us, you will be VERY HAPPY that you got the equipment and decided to learn how to burn eproms. The potential money you can save in gas alone in one year (by invoking and playing with Highway Mode) will pay for all of the equipment.
