it HAS to be VATS
it HAS to be VATS
after spending a great deal of time this weekend reading the posts on pretty much everything VATS related i've come to the realization that my car won't start because of the VATS, when i put the key in the ignition the light does not turn on, which means there's an open circuit? or get its getting a zero reading? looking at the chip on my key it seems really really worn down and im hoping its just not making a good connection. i read that the light should pop on for 2 seconds but its straight not coming on at all. tomorrow i make the trip to radley chevrolet and ask about getting a new key- also i tried to measure the resistance with a multimeter, one borrowed from a friend and another brand new model the radioshack boy let me test out and i couldn't get a reading. please lemme know some more about the light not coming on and what i need to do to fix it- i don't want to spend another weekend without my car and going to all these car shows in my buddy's pathfinder!
Car wont start?!?!
What's this? You dont want to go to the show in your buddy's pathfinder? I happen to own a pathfinder and I find them to be very reliable cars (more so than a 1992 Camaro RS that I have in mind) If you dont like riding in da pathfinder, then perhaps your friend should make you just walk. That or get a ride in your other friends mysterious supercar. HA! I think it would be for the best that you got your car to start because I can hardly assume that your so called "friend" wants to drag your whiny *** around anyways. Best of luck!

PATHFINDER. I'll tell you what was fun about my buddies 97 pathfinder. Installing headers on his 3.3L. Yes. That, and a cold air intake, and some Frontier 17" wheels and dunlops. That makes for a sweet ride
i took it to the dealer and he said it was most likely not the key because the key read fine in his key code thing. it came up with key code 12- if someone knows which resistor value it is please let me know! midknightmaro@hotmail.com i think there might be something wrong with the actual module though, becuase like i said before the secuirty light doesn't come on at all when the key is in the ignition which means there is a short somewhere right? how can i fix this- will bypassing the VATS system by the means of how it is in the technical article fix it? i checked the fuse and its not the problem. what kind of problem would let the starter crank but not let the fuel pump? please help!
key code 12
i checked the fuse and its fine, the security light will flash on and off when the alarm armed, but i have a Viper security system in addition to the VATS. so i don't know what, if anything, one has to do with the other. its only when i put the key in the ignition the security light stays off.

VATS was bypassed
92RSB4C- i really appreciate you helping me out, this thing has got me so confused. I finally got the right resistor value and bypassed VATS, but when I started it up nothing- same deal- no fuel pump whine, the starter cranks, but its not getting fuel. i mentioned in an earlier post that i just had a new fuel pump installed as well as a new ECM which has a superchip in it (chip is probably old). its a 92 camaro/ tbi. if this is all information you already know, im sorry for repeating it. i just want to make sure you guys know what im dealing with. the car isn't getting fuel, so im going to check the boards for tips or info on fuel pump relays. im tryin to read the posts as much as i can before i ask questions, i'd hate to ask something thats been answered a million times over, but if i do i apologize. thanks again guys.
