Its in the PROM, so you'd need a custom PROM to activate it. However, with your automatic PROM, if you put a light in it now, it will light up when your torque converter is locked up.

Actually, the '90 - '92 ECMs have two separate I/Os to control the TCC & the shift light. The earlier ECM style used a single I/O to control the TCC & shift light.

To make the up shift light work (turn on above a certain RPM), you would have to pull the cluster & install a light bulb & bulb holder in the cluster & then run a wire from the connector on the cluster (it should not be populated at the present time) to an RPM activated switch - MSD makes them.

MSD sells plug in modules (1% resistors) that control the activation point of the rpm activated switch. The modules are available in 200 rpm increments from 3000 rpm to 10,800 rpm. The Summit part number for the rpm activated switch is MSD-8950. It's about $54. The rpm activated switch has both N.C. and N.O. switch outputs.

If you don't like or want the light to come on, all you have to do is remove the cluster, take out the bulb and holder, and replace the cluster. I assume you have a manual trans, and that's it's normal function
