Need help with hvac.
I have done a conversion to tpi on my 92rs and befor my ac didnt work cause it wasnt hooked up but now my hvac is hella screwed up. I used a ac switch board from a 87 iroc cause the original caught on fire (long story) anyways now all that works is the defroster and i cant get it to change where the air is blowing out and it is on all the time but the blower isnt moveing. i need help any suggestions will be wonderful.
sounds like a vaccume problem to me. The vents are controlled by vaccume operated doors. Look on the pasanger side of the tpi plenum and you should see where your vaccume sources originate from. Somewhere along the line it should tee off to inside the car through the fire wall. Maybe check the vaccume diagram on the under hood sticker from a TPI car. I know for sure if the vaccume is not hooked up to the havc only the defroster will blow air. It is normal for the air to blow all the time just from the air moving aorund the car. You usually do not notice it because you only put it on defrost when you mean too. Usually you will have it on the floor. Or it is also posible that the havc would use the vaccume to close the port where air enters.

Unfortunatly i have the hood off of a 87 iroc and it has the MAF tpi vaccum diagram so could you tell me where it should route to??
Both of my camaro's are, or once were MAF but it should tee off very close to the main vaccume line that comes off of the right (pass side) of the upper plenum. It should be a hard plastic line that either goes into the fire wall itself or into a large wire harness to make its way into the car that way.

yea it goes into the car and is all hooke up but it still will not switch vents for me. i took the vaccum line off of the back of the heater control board and it made a hissing noise letting me know that it is getting vaccum pressure.

i was wondering how hard is it to replace the whole vac peice that comes off the back of the controls and goes to all the diaphrams. one of my hoses is broke. i was wondering would it just be easier to block of the broken hose and use whats left.
second i was told my vac source comes from the round black box on the fire wall next to the windshield wiper motor. does that box create its own vac or does it need to get it from some were else with another hose attached.

Ill see if I can get them to move. i was thinking of fallowing the multi colored vaccum lines and seeing where they go and maybe that will lead me to the problem.
