Driver's side battery questions?
Driver's side battery questions?
Ok guys, the battery tray on the passenger side of my car is rusted through pretty badly. So I want to move the battery to the tray on the driver's side this weekend. I know that I will have to relocate the charcoal canister and such, but really want to know about the battery cables? Anybody who has done this, or who has a car set up like this from the factory....would you happen to know how long your battery cables are and how they are routed? I would appreciate as many details as I can get. Hopefully that will make sure I do this fix right.

Firebirds have the bat on the drivers side and the ground runs to the block and the + makes a haphazerdly mile long stretch to the starter. I moved mine to the trunk. Then you don't have to worry about move charcoal and junk. That stuff should be moved to a garbage can instead.

Your sig has a 4th gen 'bird, but I can't explain your customers' cars unless they are too. All the thirdgen 'birds I've seen have the battery on the driver's side, and the airbox on the passenger side.

My 4th gen has it on the pass. side.
My 83 T/A crossfire had it on the pass. side (RIP)
My GM manual shows it on the pass side for V8s and V6s exept for the 2.5L fours.
And my cusomers 3rd gen T/As and Camaros have it on the pass side.
I'm not saying they don't exist, I've just never seen one.

Well, the swap is done. I had to remove the charcoal canister (would have remounted it on the pass side, but it was rusted away) and get a new positive cable. 62" cable cost like seventeen bucks, but i'm happy with how it turned out.
