I can take you a picture of both. But 91 and 92 are different. 92 had a squared off portion on the nose of the motor vs the round of the prior years. Also the pull down loop attached to the hatch was square shaped on 92 vs the prior ones being of round bar formed in a loop. They don't interchange. We tried using a 92 in a friends 88 and it smoked the motor trying to pull it down. evidently they have a different amount that they pull down to shut off the limit switch. BTW, my newly formed company Top-Down Solutions makes new plastic guides that replace the OEM extruded ones. I'll be shipping them very soon. Good luck, Lon.

Here are some pictures to compare the 1992 hatch pull-down assy to the 1986-91 ones. Also the replacement guides I make are shown as well. Let me know if you need more info or pic's. Lon http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/topdownso...n+assy&.view=t

but the solenoids are the same so could I JUST put the 1991 SOLENOID on my 1992 manual release pull down now and add the ground wire and the entergize wire over to the extand relay.

You are correct, the solenoid is the same regardless of the year.

More to it than that. If your car didn't have a solenoid release (like my 'vert) then you need to wire the hatch release up to the switch. Also it needs to wire to the relay in the center console and tie into the parking brake (on T5 cars) or the Neutral Safety switch (on auto cars). They want to guarantee you don't accidentally pop it while driving. I'd have to check the Helms for further wiring. I swapped the entire pull-down assy rather than attaching the solenoid to the existing. I will have to look into just swapping on the solenoid. The existing manual part needs to come off first. It has a cable that attaches to the key lock to release the latch. The solenoid one has the same cable assy. But I haven't tried disassembling to do it the way you are trying. Someone else posted on converting a manual to solenoid recnetly and mentioned minor modifications req'd.

WELL the reason I know this for sure is there is a TECH article about this whole deal, just wanted to make sure about everything before I went and tryed it. Yes I got the relay and the switch and I hooked all that other stuff and it all works FINE, just need this latch solenoid to finish the project.
