Voltage sensing, auto switching relay..

I'm attempting to make a better alternative for a mechanical WOT switch.

I want to make a relay setup that taps into the main signal wire on the TPS.

Once it reads 4.5 Volts, I want the relay to open to power the accessory.

I'm not too familiar with different types of relays, do they make a relay with a set resistance on the "supply" side? Or would I need to make a small circuit setup with resistance? Possible a transistor?

Some guidance please.. :hail:

Maybe an op amp as a voltage comparator. It would need a potentiometer to set the turn-on voltage, probably a transistor to drive the relay, and half a dozen other little bits.

First let me apologize for not having a scanner, I swear i'll pick up a new one this week. I do this stuff for a living and I could shoot you a print. A comparator is more precise but all you really need is an NPN transistor wired as a saturated switch with a pot on the base side of the transistor. I drew up a schematic, and I will try to run next door today and post it. 4 parts not counting the relay.

Actually, post that kind of stuff here! Never know when that kind of thing could come in handy!

Send me an E-mail with a shipping address. Had some time at work and built one. I'll get it out before weeks end. Dan

yes, I know, this is old. just wondering if anything came of this. I'm looking to add a hidden WOT switch if I run nitrous at some point.
