ok my buddie had a bolt in the cig lighter and didnt know abotu it untill he blew out the wire with another fuse..... so the interior lights... power locks.... power mirrors....cig lighter.... are all out..... and he wants me to fix it. what the hell should i do haha.... i dont trust myself....... if someone could take my through this wiring crap.... its an 89 camaro rs tbi 305......... i need to know how to put in another wire without killing anything else.

 

if ya lived closer I'd come over and show ya how to do it lol

 

yea yesterday i tried takin off the top peice of the center console and the cig lighter has a thick *** wire connecting it and im afraid to totally rip it out or break part of the console..... theres somethign else im missing.

 

is there 2 wires coming from the lighter? and are you sure the wires are shot?

 

well i couldnt see it b/c it was so short and u could only pull the lighter up so much.... but it looked like a few wires together in an encasing...... they have to be shorted b/c when we tried putting in the fuse b4 we knew there was a bolt in the lighter..... we put in teh new fuse and all u saw was sparks come through..... then we put another one in there .... and no more sparks.... that wire is cooked.

 

does the radio work?

 

yes the radio works..... everything does besides the power mirrors, locks, lighter and dome lights

 

I would try disconnecting the wire for the lighter, putting a new fuse in and if that doesn't blow, go to wally world or your local parts store buying a new lighter, and hooking it up to the constant wire for your radio
