TPI wiring pics
heres what I got. Its from a 1988 IROC TPI. what wires do I need to keep and what dont I need to keep. The wireing is in a loop from one side of the car to the other, I just want the part that runs the motor, its going into my 82 Z28 and I want to keep as much of the factory wiring in that car as possible.
Also does anyone know what the clear pack connector on the side of the wiring where the computer plugs into is, or if I need it. Its on my 82 camaro too so everyone must have it.

The clear plug is the IP connector. It basically plugs everything into the fuse box. The two black connectors obviously go to the ECM. I'm not 100% sure if your original Ip connector on your 82 will be the exact same. I would get yourself a Chiltons manual to get all teh wiring diagrams to see fi they are the same, They probably are , but just to be safe... plus the manual will help you with alot of other decisions you will need to make. This is what mine look like on my Monte Carlo SS..it required some wires to be re-arranged.

One more with the ecm connected. It may help??? The arrow points to the clear IP connector mentioned. The black side goes to the fuse box and ignition etc.

I wouldn't cut anything just yet. The main wiring block under the brake booster is what you are talking about right??? Like said before get a Manual. This will give you allteh wiring diagrams. Teh harness you got with the 88 TPI may work with everything in the 82. You need to cross reference all these wires first. When you remove the main blcok under the booster, it splits into two different peices. the one side goes to all the lights, horn etc. the other part runs all the engine, A/C, electric fans and all that pertains to the engine itself. SO be very carfull what you cut! Ihope your harness has all these relays and the ESC( electric spark control) Without these relays and modules the car won't run. (the ones on the wheel well) Look familiar?????

Fallow the red paint line. This is that wiring harness you've got. It goes up behind the distributor at the back of the engine.

I have those relays, IM going to look and see what wires are in the 82 wiring harness, where it goes through the firewall on the drivers side, see if maybe most of the wires are there in the same location. Im terrible at reading wiring diagrams, well the ones gm gives anyways. I figure I might get lucky and most of the same wires will be there becuse they go to the gauges and fuse block, whichever ones are not in the 82 I'll find whrere they went in the 88 and try to do the same thing in the 82, I have all the wireing for the interior of the 88 too so if all else fails ill just change over everything. The only reason I didnt want to do that is the 82 has A\C and the 88 doesn't.

The '82 IP harness will be missing several wires to connect to the TPI engine harness. Here's a sketch of what I had to add to make it just like factory.

nice scetch john, I think im just going to make things easy on my self and just use the whole wireing harness from the car, all the under dash stuff and just use every wire thats there from the 88, I figure I cant go wrong with that.
