Putting in OPTIMA / ORBITAL battery... Leave alternator in?

It says on the side that "it only needs charging if the output voltage is less than 12.5V" or some crap.

It also says "DO NOT OVERCHARGE" and "DONT EXCEED 14.5V"

Im thinking my alternator is going to "overcharge" this battery now??

I know people with optimas using alternators but im wondering will it be safer without? Does it matter?

thanks. !

I have to admit I'm a little confused at your question but, if this helps any, Optima batteries work just like a standard battery. They are just made a little different inside.

Without the alternator the battery will be dead with a few days of driving--you need it. Hook it all up and verify the alternator isn't putting out some insane voltage like 16.2 or something. Over 14.5 can be bad for any battery.

Car: Camaro of course
That's what I'm runnin' in my Camaro, I have a one hell of a chromed out A.M. alt. and my batt. is just fine. Also if something happened it has like a one or two year warr. Besides if using a alternator (like %99.9 of cars have) would burn the batt. out they would of never made it to the store shelf.

i was worried.
