I rekon you've looked and seen how funky those bulbs are in the third break light. You have to go to the dealership to get those and they cost a few bucks a piece. You can;t buy them at any auto parts stores that I know of.

well, i don't know which brake light / spoiler you're talking about, but there's one with 5 bulbs that's used on the '86 high mounts and at least 91-92 conv's. the bulbs are small 12V 20Watt halogens, and can be acquired from radio shack for about $3 each. you can check with an auto parts store or walmart (they sell them for about $9 ea) to see which is the right one.

Oh, I've got an 89 IROC. On mine, it;s a piece of plastic about 10 inches long with 6 bullbs attached to it. This long piece screws on to the back of the break light housing assembly.

if you cant tell i have an 87 z28. the light is like a foot long max and has 5 or six sockets inside. five screws attach the strip to the atcual red housing. two screws attach that to the spoiler located on the hatch. the guy used silicon and 194 because i guess he couldnt find them either. now i own the car and i want the crap done right. it sounds like eyerock89 has the best idea of what i am talking about. what size are they and when i go to the dealership what should i say to get them? should i be like i want 6 _____ bulbs? by the _____ i am gonna say the size as soon as i find out what they are.

Hopefully the guy before you didn;t screw up the terminals too bad. The bulbs are a little smaller than the 194's and have two appx 28 gauge wires sticking off the back of the bulbs. I'm not sure of the size. Just tell the parts guy what you need...if I were you, I'd take the light components with you. If that guy did screw up the terminals...you can get one at a salvage yard for around $20.

I have an 88 IROC and the third brake light uses those little 891 halogen bulbs. They're expensive, but you can get them at chicken shack for cheap. Since they're halogen, don't handle them with your fingers, use a clean rag or paper towel, your finger oils getting on the glass will screw them up.
