Turn signal switch.....help
Turn signal switch.....help
Hey. My blinkers quit on me. I definately know it is the turn signal. (two places in town said this) They want to charge $143+ to fix it. I can't afford it.
How can I go about fixing it myself, and how much will the switch cost me.

i don't know but i have the same problem too and was looking for an answer, i have no turn signals at all. for a while one worked fine, and the other one worked about half the time, now they suddenly both quit. i think it might just be the flasher thing, but i don't know where its at????

Start with turning on the hazzards and walking around the car looking for burnt out signal bulbs (the hazzards will flash regardless unlike the flasher relay). If you can verify the bulbs (including the front sidemarkers) all flash and are good, replace the relay located in the dumbest _________ (use your own descriptive) place it could be (on certain cars).
The place I've seen it commonly is above the "convenience center" (red arrow), which pulls down, and is held by a crappy clip to the dash/steering column brace just above (green arrow). The relay simpy unplugs to replce, just getting to it though it the b---h.

so if I just have the right turn signal flashing and when I use the left it just stays on solid, what does that mean? and the freakin light for the left signal won't go off on the dash! ugh I just got this car too!
When the light doesn't flash that usually means that a bulb(s) is burnt out on that side. It shouldn't be the flasher unit because the other side side still works. I just double checked on the wire diagrams and there is only one flasher unit for both sides (unless they changed to two in later years (mine is 85).

Mine is doing somewhat the same thing. When I turn the lights on the left blinker in the car stays on, and when I flip the switch it just gets brighter, what I cant figure out though is that my buzzer for when you left your lights on and open the door, also comes on when the lights are turned on even when driving. I have no idea waht it could be at all this problem started when I replaced some lights for the instrument cluster.

I changed my left turn signal bulb saturday, it stoped lighting up and that was the whole cause right there but it was lighting up just before it burned out. odd lol

I had a similar problem a while ago.My high beam/signal indicators/buzzer would go on when ignition was on,but would go out when engine was started, but then my digital gauges (intellitronix)would go out.If i installed my factory gauges, needles would drop to bottom except temp it would go to the top w/engine running or not,if i turned on the headlights,buzzer/signal indicators/hi-beam/gauge lights would dim.when i removed the fuses for the dash gauges &lights & tail & back-up lights & then reinstalled them for some reason everything worked again.dont know why though.Never did this b4 & hasnt since.but it all started when i remove my instrument cluster, then tried to reinstall it.
