i don't know who to ask, you must read this! i know it isn't thirdgen related but i'd appreciate it if the mods would leave it for at least a day. sorry, but i don't know where to go.
my right turnsignal comes on when i hit the brakes. i've checked all fuses and bulbs and they are in good condition. there are no indications of an improper working turn signal, however when i hit the brakes the right turn signal indicator on the dash lights up dimly?
what could cause something like this? it's a 96 ranger (typical of ford).

You're right, that is a weird problem. There's some linkage for the brakes under the dash, maybe a wire got stuck behind it and when you hit the brake it pulls on that wire. Hopefully someone else can help you better, but thats the best I can do right now!

Which ever side is sticking, check the main brake lamp for that side. I have a ford too, and I have the same problem when one of those dual fillament light bulbs goes nuts. Even if the bulb looks good, replace it and see what happens. If not, check the flasher, the wiring is too staight forward for this to occur unless you (I am implying any one who worked on the car) messed with the under dash or tail light wiring. If you have trailer connections in there, check and make sure they are wired correctly.
true, i checked the bulbs and switched them around.........didn't just replace them though. all wiring in the truck is stock. haven't touch anything. i've been trying to find a "flasher" relay much like what we have on the thirdgens with no luck.
i agree with the wiring being individual which is odd why the bulbs are doing this. everything is working so it can't be a fuse so i assume that it's either a relay messing up somehow or something is causing the wires to connect with each other.
i'm at a loss.........time to trade her in. :lala:
