Fog light relay?
do the fog lights have thier own relay? mine are not staying on when i push the switch, i have to hold the switch down for them to stay on. the switch itself appears to be fine, i think its just momentary contact type switch. if the relay was bad then it wouldnt stay on right?

My Haynes manual shows one located at the "Underhood Electrical Center" in both the
90-92 w/Daytime Running Lights, and the 82-92 w/o DRL. As for the switch, the one in my 86
has an Off and an On button. The one in my 84 is aftermarket. If you want the diagram,
lemme know which one, and I'll scan it for you.

the switch in mine moves one way. ive taken it apart and it appears to be a momentary contact switch, which leaves me to bieleve that the relay is responsible for keeping the circuit on or off, right? where exactly is the relay? under the driver side dashpad? is the relay soley for the fog lights? i got a haynes manual too, what page is the diagram on?
oh and about day time running lights, how do u tell if u got that or not? what exactly does that mean for a firebird since the headlights would have to be flipped up? do the foglights act as daytime running lights?

About the DRL... I dunno. I've never seen 'em. The diagrams are on pages 10-25 and 10-26.
I haven't studied the diagram closely, but a momentary contact switch could be used to activate
the relay. There'd have to be some sort of holding voltage coming from somewhere in
the park/headlight circuit, though.

That's how I'd have to find it. Maybe someone knows exactly where it is.
According to the diagram, the wire that runs from the switch to energize the
relay is either yellow or brown/white. I'd stick 12v on that wire and see if they
stay on. If they do, it's the switch that needs replacing.

ok well i think i found the problem. relay is fine but the switch doesnt hold its position. i took it apart again and noticed a broken 'tab' that looks like is supposed to grab the switch part and hold it down until u push the other side to release it. guess i got to hunt down a new swithc. anyone know where i can find one? havent had luck in a junkyard and im dont even want to know what a gm dealership would charge for one? guess ill post in the classifieds...
