Blown fuse

Popped my face plate on my stereo on my way to work today and got nothing. When I got to work I checked the prongs on the back of the face plate. Since it was a little dark sittinig in the car I went to turn on the interior lights and NOTHING. So I think my problem is a blown fuse.

Can anyone tell me where the fuse is for interior lighting and the stereo? I will check it out when I get home tonight. I also do not have an owners manual. I bought it as a used car and the previous owner did not have it. So any info would be helpful.

Thanks.

Bill

I guess it would help if I said it was an '87 Trans Am.

Try the courtesy fuse in the fuse panel. It controls the interior lights, radio, and I think the horn.

You were right. I also found out it controls the hatch pull down motor also. Replaced the fuse and it blew again right away. If anybody has any ideas I am all ears. I am not too good at the electrical.

Since the stereo was the last thing you were working on before this started, i would pull it and check all the wiring just to make sure nothing was exposed or crossed.

Also check the cig lighter, this seems to be a common problem on our cars.

I will check it out. Everything was working fine last week. The stereo is an after market but it has been in for 4 months with no problem.

Yeah, when that happened to me, i went crazy looking for shorts and pulling apart my stereo just to find out the lighter was bad. Like i said it seems to be a common problem cause its happened to a few people i know. Both birds amd maros. Hopefully its not something major. Good Luck
