3rd brake light won't light

I have a 1991 GTA with the center high mounted 3rd brake light. A few weeks ago, I noticed it wasn't lighting so I cecked the bulb and saw it had been burned out. Replaced it with a brand new bulb, and it still wasn't lighting. I even changed out the whole lamp assembly with one from my friend's 91 T/A and it still wouldn't light. The main taillights still work though. How do I fixthis??? TIA

I have a 91 camaro with the same stupid light, The heat from the bulb melted the socket and the bulb fell out making it not work.
Take it apart, inspect the damage and replace the bulb and/or socket as needed.

I did just that. The bulb burned out on mine and the socket looked perfect. I'm going to test to see if there is any power getting to it as soon as I get a Voltmeter. My next guess is that the connection at the brake light switch at the brake pedal may be faulty.

This may be a stupid question.
But did you have the hatch down when you tried it again?

I made this mistake when I did mine. My a** still hurts from al the kicking I did to it. I closed the hatch and voolah!

also clean the 4 or 5 copper looking tabs that is near the trunk release on the rear of the car under the hatch you could just have a bad connection, and also make sure the hatch is closed I have done that also.
