Hey guys. So on my 84 Trans Am, sometimes the radio comes on when I start the car, sometimes it doesnt. Most of the time it doesnt actually. I have an aftermarket JVC CD player in there and yes, everything is wired up right. I have to hit various switches to turn the radio on and what switch it is differs from day to day. For instance, when I hit turned on the interior lights tonight, the radio came on. Earlier today, I had to hit the headlight switch. Other days its the defroster switch, the brakes, etc. What the hell is going on here??

Are you positive the wiring is hooked up right? Did you install it, or did a friend? What is the model number on the unit.... and did you have the color codes sheet to work with?

 

From the sound of it you may have a grounding issue.

Did you ground the radio to the brown wire or the black wire in the harness?
