Battery Draining, help please.

I took my car over to my girlfriends. When i got there i tried to start my car again, and the battery was dead. It still turns over just real slow, to slow to start the car. I had the alternator tested a few weeks ago and its fine, what else could it be? I think my battery is good. Im confused. Any suggestions would rock. Thanks

First thing is to take the battery and have a load test done, most chain auto stores do it for free. I doubt it is the starter, usually they won't turn at all when they fail. Charge the battery before you have it tested, otherwise you will be told it's bad and they will want to sell you a new one. If you have a voltmeter charge the battery and measure the voltage. It should be 12.6 volts when charged. Let it sit for a few hours then measure it again. If it drops below 12.4 volts replace it. Otherwise you may have a parasitic drain, you will need to wire a test light in series with one of the battery cables, if the light glows then you have a drain. Pull the fuses one by one until the light goes out and that will isolate the circuit causing the drain. Normal drain should be less than 15 milliamps in most third gens.

My old battery wouldn't hold a charge long enuf to start the car more than after a day. I bought a new battery and now its fine. Perhaps ur battery cannot handle cranking over the engine.....
