Custom aftermarket gauge set up, 91-92 Camaro>>

Okay, after swaping my TBI (POS) out for a carbed 388 stroker, I went ahead and ripped all the computer crap to go with it. No, as you would guess, I have NO gauges that work in the stock cluster. I am not worried about most of them, except the MPH and Fuel gauge. I have aftermarket temp, oil pres and RPM gauges, however, I am looking for guidance on setting up an aftermarket cluster (autometer stuff) for the direct replacment of the 91-92 stock cluster.

My questions are these:

1) Does any aftermarket company make this? (I do not think so)
2) For those whom have done it, can you post pics, and explain where you hooked your wiring to and what you made your cluster with (i.e plastic, but from where?)?
3) With the 700R4, is there an aftermarket MPH gauge that will work the the eletc transmission?

Thanks, I just need to figure this out so I can tell how fast I am going..

i used a piece of sheet metal that i bought from a local home depot kind of store.....in hindsight i'd go with aluminum since you can polish it up really nice and it'll be easier to cut through. but that's my two tips.

This isnt' the cheapest way to go, but you can get it in a variety of finaishes and diffecrnt guage styles or use your own guages.
When I started adding up just the gauages alone the price doesn't seem as bad. Summit and Jegs now sells them.

well to put it into perspective....that plate is $120 plus shipping.....i think i spent $6 on the sheet of metal and "maybe" 1.5 hours on the whole thing. So i guess technically i could charge $75 for these things and make a huge killing for the same thing.

get sheetmetal.

get the aftermarket gauges

trim it all to fit..

noone makes a bolt in deal for it...

ahtough, if you didnt distroy them, you could use your stock gauges still

none of them went thru the computer except for the speedo... and you can bypass the ECM and make the speedo work too..

mr. dude i complete agree, however i switched to all autometer due to lack of accuracy within the factory guages. my tach read 1300 when my autometer said 650 RPM, and i know what an idle sounds like you know? also he should really just take a stencil and copy the factory cluster shape and cut it out with a sawsall, grinding whatever and buy some hole saws and he'll be done quick enough.
