Can someone tell me what the heck this is in the spare tire well?

Can someone tell me what the heck this is in the spare tire well?

I was (re)-installing my amplifier in my rear tire well, when I noticed these two wires going through this grommet in the rear corner of the quarter panel. What is this? It seems like it must just be a 12v and a ground, but I don't know for sure.

wow, now that I think about it... is it the license plate lights? duh... but I would have figured that they would not have run an entire separte set of wires just for those bulbs... These couldn't possibly be power to all the tail lights, right?

It goes from the tailight harness to the marker light in the 1/4 panel i think.

Yes its the marker lights.. We did the same thing with the amp where the rear cardboard box was.

doh, I guess I would have seen that if I took out the board, but thanks for your response. I was thinking that maybe it was an airbag sensor? Do our cars have any in the rear?
